A watchmaker's workshop at twilight

Our Story

Craftsmanship holds its own time.

Twilight Escapement was founded on a quiet belief: that the watches people care about most deserve attention that matches that care.

Who We Are

A small workshop with a considered approach

Twilight Escapement opened in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district after years spent in watch service environments where volume was valued over attention. The founder — a watchmaker trained in Switzerland and further shaped by years working across Southeast Asia — wanted something different: a place where each piece arriving for service would be treated with the same seriousness given to an original maker's work.

The workshop name comes from the escapement mechanism at the heart of every mechanical watch — the small assembly that governs the release of energy and gives the movement its character. The word also captures the quality of light the team finds most suited to fine work: the soft, even illumination of early evening, when detail is appreciated slowly and without strain.

We work with a small number of watches at any one time, which means each piece receives genuine attention. There is no queue culture here, no rushing a job to make room for the next one. The right work takes the right amount of time.

Our Mission

To preserve what matters in each watch

A fine watch carries the decisions of its original makers — in the choice of alloys, the finishing of surfaces, the regulation of the balance. Our purpose is to honour those decisions when we work on a piece, not to impose our own preferences over them.

This means we do not polish when it is not requested, do not replace parts that still serve their function, and do not recommend work that is not genuinely needed. Every suggestion we make is offered with a clear explanation of what it addresses and what it costs — financially and in terms of originality.

Preservation of original character above all
Transparent recommendations with no pressure
Documented records for every service
Timelines set honestly and upheld with communication

The People

Those who care for your watch

A small, stable team. We do not rotate staff or assign watches to whoever is free. The watchmaker you speak with at the start is the one whose hands attend to your piece.

TC

Master Watchmaker & Founder

Trained in La Chaux-de-Fonds and with over eighteen years in horological service. Specialises in complicated movements and vintage restorations.

PW

Pimwadee Wachiraporn

Movement Technician

Focuses on regulation and timing work. Her attention to the finishing of movement components reflects years of careful practice across Swiss and Japanese calibres.

How We Work

Standards that shape every service

These are not external requirements we meet. They are the working habits that give us confidence in the quality of what we deliver.

Magnified Inspection

All movement work is performed under appropriate magnification. Nothing is assessed by eye alone. Detail that matters at a microscopic level is treated with the instruments that reveal it.

Appropriate Lubrication

We use watchmaker-grade lubricants suited to each calibre and applied in the quantities specified by the movement's design. Over- and under-lubrication are both sources of harm.

Water Resistance Testing

Where a watch carries a water resistance rating, we test the case integrity before and after service using calibrated equipment. Fresh seals are fitted as a matter of routine.

Timing Measurement

Rate accuracy is recorded on a timing machine in multiple positions before and after regulation. The results are included in the written service report provided to the owner.

Secure Custody

Every watch in our care is individually documented on arrival, stored securely when not on the bench, and returned with the same components it arrived with unless replacements were agreed in advance.

Written Service Records

Each watch leaves with a document describing the work completed, parts used, timing results, and any observations worth noting for the owner's future reference.

Our Expertise

Fine watch care in Bangkok — what we bring to the work

The horological tradition in Thailand has grown considerably over the past two decades. Bangkok is home to a knowledgeable community of watch owners — collectors of vintage Swiss pieces, owners of contemporary complications, and individuals who have inherited timepieces of particular meaning. What this community has lacked, in many cases, is a workshop that approaches the work with the same depth of care the watches themselves represent.

Twilight Escapement was established specifically to address that gap. Our founder's training in Switzerland, combined with long practical experience in Bangkok and across the region, gives us a grounded understanding of the watches that arrive here — their makers' intentions, their typical failure modes, and the sourcing challenges that arise when period-correct parts are needed for older calibres.

We work across a wide range of Swiss and European movements, both manual-wind and automatic, including complicated pieces such as chronographs, calendar functions, and repeaters. Vintage watches from the mid-twentieth century to more recent decades are a particular area of focus. Japanese mechanical movements are also well within our competence.

The pace of our work reflects what the watches need, not a production schedule. This is not common in a city where most watch service is handled by brand-authorised centres focused on volume, or by general jewellers whose expertise extends only to basic adjustments. Twilight Escapement occupies a quieter position: patient, independent, and guided by the standards of the craft rather than by commercial throughput.
